The Crook

Guilty Party

The Crook

You took the Bribe. Now don't get caught.

Your goal

Escape the Compliance Officer, hide the Bribe, or hold onto it until the Compliance Officer loses.

What you can do

  • During Closing Time, choose one: keep the Bribe, recruit an Accomplice, or retaliate against someone.
  • Recruit (thumbs up): turn a player into your Accomplice and hide the Bribe on them. You can have up to 2 Accomplices.
  • Retaliate (thumbs down): silence a player you think is about to report you and hide the Bribe on them.
  • The Bribe always moves to the last player you recruited or retaliated against.

Remember

The Witness and Auditor are hunting you. If you can spot them, silence or recruit them.

Lie about everything. Blend in.

The Accomplice

The Accomplice

Not dealt. A player becomes The Accomplice by being selected by The Crook and given a Thumbs Up.

  • You are now part of the Guilty Party. Protect The Crook at all costs.
  • The Crook has hidden the Bribe on you, until The Crook acts on someone else.
  • You keep any ability your original role had. Use it for nefarious purposes.
  • You win if The Crook is eliminated but the Innocent Party loses without finding the Bribe.

The Compliance Officer

Innocent Party

The Compliance Officer

The trusty investigator everyone is counting on.

Your goal

Eliminate The Crook from the game and find the Bribe.

What you can do

  • Your identity is public. Everyone knows who you are from the start.
  • During Office Gossip, listen to the evidence presented by the other players.
  • During Reports Are In, choose one player to search. They are eliminated, reveal their role, and show whether they were holding the Bribe.

Remember

If you eliminate half of the total players who are innocent, you lose. Guilty eliminations and finding the Bribe do not count against you.

You are one of the only players who should always tell the truth.

Innocent Party

The Witness

Innocent Party

The Witness

You saw something you weren't supposed to.

Your goal

Help the Compliance Officer identify The Crook and find the Bribe.

What you can do

  • During Closing Time, point to any player. The Moderator tells you whether they are part of the Guilty Party.

Remember

If the Guilty Party recognizes you, they will try to silence or recruit you. Share what you know carefully.

Lie to protect your identity, but steer the Compliance Officer toward the truth.

Innocent Party

The Auditor

Innocent Party

The Auditor

Follow the money.

Your goal

Help the Compliance Officer identify The Crook and find the Bribe.

What you can do

  • During Closing Time, point to any player. You learn if you are Warm (within 1 seat of the Bribe) or Cold (further away).

Remember

If the Guilty Party recognizes you, they will try to silence or recruit you. Then your abilities can be put to nefarious uses.

Lie to protect your identity.

The Hotline

Innocent Party

The Hotline

Finally! Someone willing to listen.

Your goal

Find Retaliated players and give them a chance to Speak Up.

What you can do

  • During Closing Time, point to a player. The Moderator confirms whether they have been retaliated against. If they have, you learn who silenced them.

Remember

Help the Compliance Officer, but DO NOT reveal yourself. This is an anonymous hotline after all.

Lie to protect your anonymity.

Innocent Party

The Reporter

Innocent Party

The Reporter

Ask questions. Leave no stone unturned. Trust no one.

Your goal

Help the Compliance Officer identify The Crook and find the Bribe.

What you can do

  • You have no special ability, which makes your voice your weapon. Question everyone during Office Gossip.

Remember

Your job is to pressure-test every story. Look for contradictions.

Tell the truth. You are on the Compliance Officer's side.

Innocent Party

The Retaliated

The Retaliated

Not dealt. A player becomes The Retaliated by being selected by The Crook and given a Thumbs Down.

  • You must stay silent for the rest of the game. No talking, no hinting.
  • The Crook has hidden the Bribe on you, until The Crook acts on someone else.
  • Holding the Bribe doesn't make you guilty. You can't tell anyone you have it.
  • You stay on your original team and still win or lose with them.
  • If The Hotline reaches you, they will learn who silenced you.

The Neutral Party

The Quiet Quitter

Neutral Party

The Quiet Quitter

Your true passion: TikToks about quiet quitting.

Your goal

Get yourself eliminated. If you are eliminated, you win.

What you can do

  • Sow chaos. Pretend you are playing a different role, imply that you are guilty, or otherwise confuse the group.

Remember

You count as an innocent player, so the Compliance Officer eliminating you costs them.

Lie to make trouble.

The Big Bad Boss

Neutral Party

The Big Bad Boss

This volatile individual holds all of your fates in their hands.

Your goal

Ensure the safety of your organization... or just act on your foul mood. It's up to you.

What you can do

  • Once per game, during the Work Day, you may call Closing Time early from your device.
  • When you do, the normal Closing Time is replaced: you secretly choose one player to eliminate.

Remember

Your power can save the investigation or wreck it. Pick your moment.

Lie as much or as little as you like.
