Someone's taken a bribe! It's time for you to take a stand...
Rumors are circulating around the office. It's up to the trusty Compliance Officer to sniff out the wrongdoers and bring them to justice. This roleplaying game lets your team feel the stress of a real-time investigation and shows how hard it can be to find the truth.
The Moderator runs the game from a shared screen and does not play.
How to play
Watch the explainer, then follow along. The Moderator screen walks everyone through every phase.
- Step 1
Host opens a room
The facilitator becomes the Moderator and gets a 4-digit code. Put the Moderator screen on the big display.
- Step 2
Players join on their phones
Everyone enters the code and their name. Six players minimum, up to fifteen.
- Step 3
Secret roles are dealt
Each phone shows a private character card with your goal and abilities.
- Step 4
Rounds loop until the case closes
Closing Time, the Work Day, Office Gossip, and Reports Are In repeat, each on a timer.
Win conditions
Do you have what it takes?
The Innocent Party wins
The Compliance Officer eliminates The Crook and the Bribe is found.
The Innocent Party loses
The Compliance Officer eliminates innocent players equal to half of the total players. Start with 8 players and 4 innocent eliminations ends it. Guilty eliminations do not count.
The Crook wins
The Innocent Party loses without ever eliminating The Crook.
The Accomplices win
The Crook is eliminated, but the Innocent Party loses without finding the Bribe.
Both parties tie
The Compliance Officer finds the Bribe but eliminates too many innocent players before eliminating The Crook.
The Quiet Quitter wins
The Quiet Quitter gets themself eliminated. This is a personal win and the game keeps going.
Tips for a great session
Everyone lies, almost
Everyone except the Compliance Officer and Reporters should be lying. The Guilty Party lies to hide, special Innocent roles lie to stay safe, and the Quiet Quitter lies to make trouble.
Make it fun
Funny names, accents, a theme like Old West or Roaring 20s. Keep it appropriate for work. Costumes and props add an extra layer.
Keep the game moving
Trust the timer. Don't be afraid to cut off a debate before anyone reaches a conclusion. That's half the fun.
First time? Practice round
Have everyone say their role out loud and keep eyes open through one round, so everyone sees what happens while eyes are closed.
